One wintery December evening, Mom was reflecting on a text she received from a friend using our tallow butter. It described how her daughter’s eczema had completely vanished after using the product. She was encouraging us to begin a small business and provide halal tallow skincare to the community, since there was a massive gap in the market..

Mom pondered this aloud, catching me by surprise. Despite making skincare for the family for years, the idea of launching a business was never in the picture, given Mom’s health struggles and my pre-existing wood-burning business which took up all my free time.

However, something shifted that evening.

A door opened, where it hadn’t existed before.

And suddenly, this idea seemed too important, too vital to ignore.

Within three days, we threw together an Instagram, stuck our product on Facebook Marketplace, and we began what is now a movement towards holistic, traditional living.

As the months passed and sales began pouring in, Tallow suddenly went viral on social media, sending waves our way. We learned how to make cold pressed soap, how to infuse different plants and scents into our butters, how to market, price, package, sell.

We slow began curating a new line, Straight from the Earth, featuring wildcrafted plants (foraged and homegrown) infused into organic oils. Our passion of discovering the medicine and power within what grows all around us grew, fuelled by the incredible feedback received by our community.

We have learned that the journey never stops and the lessons never end. Allah’s teachings are so vast, and we love the ride to discovering more, and more, and more.
